The crow that liked to party

On a midsummer night I was sitting in my garden and looked at the flowers and plants. The garden is beautifull at the moment, since it has been raining for a while here in Holland. But this evening the rain had stopped and the temperature had risen to tropical levels. So I took my sketchbook and started drawing. It felt like a relief to just draw the flowers, no worries about any concept. Drawing lines and forms - thinking about nothing else, that's something that makes me so happy.

And than there appeared some new species of flowers on my papier, species I had never seen before. A bird flew into the drawing and I reconized him as the crow I saw a few days ago when I was walking with my son. My son liked him very much because the bird had been sitting on top of a car and he thought the bird would go driving. But now the craw visited my paper. I wondered where he was up to. He seemed interested in the green flower. Or would he like our new bird house? So I asked him: "Hey there, what are you doing tonight?" And he answered: "Well, I like the wilderness in your backyard, so I'm planning to give a party tonight right here. Is that ok with you?" I couldn't believe my ears; this little guy could talk! "This is midsummer madness," I thought, and I decided it was best to find my bed before the temperature would hit my brain too much. But next morning my daughter woke me up, whispering: "Mom! Look at the garden!" I went downstairs and I wondered what happened while I had been sleeping.
